For those of you who are unfamiliar with our small spot on the map, we have an exceptional and thriving theater scene here. You don’t have to go to the City to see good theater. And the best part is that we have great local talent, including playwrights, directors and actors. It’s also a great venue for foodies to try out some local farm to table food before the show. No fighting for parking or taxis, and no stress of trying to arrive for the opening scene. Have a relaxing dinner at one of our outdoor bistros, or just take a nice walk before the show starts. And there’s plenty of parking.
The Hangar Theatre is in fact, a renovated airplane hangar. Through the combined efforts of Ithaca College, Cornell University, Ithaca Repertory Theater and the City of Ithaca, along with a grant from Nelson Rockerfeller, the Hangar Theatre has become a noteworthy theater spot for locals as well as visitors throughout the country.
The 2013 Hangar Theatre season runs from June 13-August 17 and will be featuring the following:
Last of the Red Hot Lovers: June 13-29, 2013
Gypsy: July 4-20, 2013
4000 Miles: July 25-August 3, 2013
Clybourne Park: August 8-17, 2013
