Spring

As winter snows depart, the area's tumbling waterfalls and rushing streams come into their full glory. Fishermen line the streams on April 1st, the opening day of trout season. Vineyards come alive with workers tying the vines that will produce the grapes, which in turn will become the wines for which the area is famous. Festivals celebrate lilacs and apple blossoms; and attractions from historic homes and museums to lake and canal cruises open for the season. Come celebrate the soft greens of opening leaves, the bright yellows, reds and purples of spring flowers, and brilliant blues of the lakes.

Whatever your leisure time desire, you can fulfill it here.

Fall

Picture acre upon acre of reds, golds, yellows, russets and greens reflected in lakes and streams, leaves crunching under your feet, and beds of beautiful fall flowers. Envision roadside stands featuring squash, cabbage, grapes, pumpkins and shiny red apples--and don't forget a regional favorite, grape pie! Fall is an ideal time for a cruise or a train excursion or to visit a winery during the harvest season.
